Qurbani 2026 is fast approaching, and sorting out your Qurbani donation is important to ensure that your sacrifice is carried out in time and in line with Islamic regulations. At House of Giving, we take your donations and handle the whole sacrifice process for you, from selecting the best animals to the sacrifice and distribution of the meat, so you don’t have to worry about fulfilling your obligation. We work in some of the most deprived areas where struggling families cannot put food on their tables and are facing hunger and hardship. Your Qurbani donation can help to provide them with substantial meals to enjoy over Eid al-Adha, offering comfort, joy and hope for a better future.

The Importance of Your Qurbani Donation

Your Qurbani donation allows you to still fulfil an essential act of worship, even though you cannot carry it out yourself. Qurbani is a very important Islamic tradition that requires all able Muslims to carry out an animal sacrifice every year during the celebration of Eid al-Adha. This is to show devotion and obedience to Allah (SWT) and to commemorate the great sacrifice that the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was willing to make. Ibrahim (AS) was commanded to sacrifice his only son, Ismail (AS), to show his commitment and trust in Allah (SWT). Ibrahim (AS) never wavered with this command and so, before the sacrifice was made, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram to sacrifice instead as a reward for his dedication. Since then, animals have been sacrificed to honour the Prophet (AS) and take on that same devotion and submission to Allah (SWT).

As well as your donation allowing you to fulfil this act of worship and show devotion to Islam, the Qurbani donation focuses on helping the hungry. Rather than the traditional three-way split of the meat from the sacrifice, where only one portion goes to those in need, donating Qurbani allows you to give all of the meat to those who need it. This means that you benefit a lot more people facing poverty and hunger, helping to save their lives and bring joy during the days of Eid.

What Your Online Qurbani Donation Can Do

With House of Giving, your online Qurbani donation has the power to help countless vulnerable families across the world who struggle to put food on the table and live comfortably. We focus on areas that are facing poverty, hunger and hardship to offer them resources and support that they typically don’t have. These families cannot afford to eat basic staple foods, never mind having fresh, quality meat, so Eid al-Adha is the only time of the year that they get meat from the sacrifice. Through your donation and act of worship, you can transform their devastation into joy, giving them healthy, nutritious meals that help them survive and end their hunger.

Our team works in the most troubled, poverty-stricken areas and crisis zones across the world to deliver fresh meat and immediate support. Your online Qurbani donation can help these families survive today while creating a more secure future for tomorrow.

Who is Required to Donate Qurbani?

There are certain Islamic regulations that determine who’s required to donate Qurbani. These rules are similar to the ones for Zakat, with only a slight difference, which means that the sacrifice should be done by every sane, adult Muslim who isn’t travelling. This means that those who are travelling during the days of Eid al-Adha are exempt.

On top of this, Muslims must have wealth beyond their basic needs, meeting or exceeding the Nisab threshold. This means that if a believer has the equivalent of or more than the current Nisab level, which is 87.48 grams of gold and 612.36 grams of silver, then they must do Qurbani.

When to Donate Qurbani in the UK?

When you donate Qurbani in the UK, there’s a specific deadline that must be met to ensure that your sacrifice is valid. Since the act of worship is done during Eid al-Adha, your sacrifice must be done on the day of Eid or during the three extra days (the days of tashreeq) which fall on the 11th, 12th and 13th of Dhul Hijjah. So, from the 10th of Dhul Hijjah after the Eid prayer until the 13th of Dhul Hijjah before the sun sets, your Qurbani must be done.

This means that you need to get your donation in before Eid al-Adha begins to ensure that your sacrifice is done on the correct days. We take early donations before the celebration begins to provide you with the best and healthiest animals and perform your sacrifice before the deadline of sunset on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Make sure that you donate before Eid al-Adha to make your Qurbani count, otherwise it will only be Sadaqah if done after the deadline.
